For cleaning and sorting rocks in quarries, many customers have chosen a Höft drum screen. The advantages are obvious: materials can be transported directly from stock to the hopper using a wheel loader or dump truck. The drum screen with an internal diameter of 1.8 meters can easily process stones up to one meter in length. The dimensions and length of the screen openings are custom-made according to customer specifications. Particle size can be configured for cleaning materials or producing, for example, crushed stone. Customers use a drum screen to process materials coming from the coal face. It is also used to clean stored materials that previously could not be processed effectively, allowing valuable components to be recovered. In this way, a drum screen enables the exploitation of untapped resources and frees up valuable storage space in the quarry. Continuous processing capacities of 300 to 400 tons per hour ensure that customers can respond quickly to orders. At the same time, the robust drum design guarantees reliable operation and minimal wear. A quarry grows and evolves over time. The extraction area expands from the initial installation location of the system. Distances increase and space requirements change. Therefore, we were asked to make our robust and relatively heavy system easier to move within the quarry. Due to its stationary nature, the system is typically installed on a monolithic concrete foundation. This is where engineers identified an opportunity for improvement. This foundation has been replaced by a very stable subframe. This improvement allows easy relocation of the drum within the quarry. In addition, foundation construction costs are eliminated, significantly reducing investment costs for the client. Currently, a project is in the execution phase. With the help of the CAD model, an overview of the system is already available.
